Dynamic Pages in Wix

Have you ever needed to create multiple pages for variations of the same thing? For example, maybe you have a team page and you want specific pages for each team member with their contact info, socials, etc. Well, creating several pages for each team member will take you forever. Also, creating too many pages can slow down the load speed of your website. So what is the solution?

CMS stands for Content Management System. This is basically a database that your website can pull data from. You can also create something called a Dynamic Page that will really help save you time and maintain the quick load speeds of your website. These dynamic pages allows you to create one page design and let the content from the database fill in the content based on what the user clicks on.

For example, look at the website Target.com/. When looking through products, you will see that the general design is similar, but the images and text information is all different based on the product you are looking at.

To explain CMS and Dynamic Pages better, feel free to watch this video where we design and build out a database for custom team member pages:

As you can see, CMS and dynamic pages prevent you from having to create so many pages and slowing down your website.

With that in mind, let's say that some information is not necessary for every page. For example, let's say a team member does not have a Linkedin page to link to. Well with a little code, you can hide elements on dynamic pages if the database does not have content for the element. Learn how here.

Now that you get the gist for CMS and Dynamic Pages, it is time to apply them to your website! Have Fun!
